Kodai Senga, undoubtedly the Mets’ ace last year and coming into spring training this year, was scheduled to throw a bullpen yesterday but didn’t end up doing so because of triceps tightness. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that the team is not concerned and expects him to throw a bullpen later this week.

The update is the latest in a string of not-so-positive news about Senga’s recovery from a shoulder issue that saw him shut down very early in spring training. Last week, as he was working toward starting a rehab assignment, Senga reportedly needed to deal with a “mechanical issue” that was keeping him from throwing comfortably.
